Meadowlands Hospital 17th Annual Golf & Tennis
Classic to Benefit Emergency Room Upgrade
The Meadowlands Hospital Medical Center will host its 17th Annual Golf and Tennis Classic Sept. 10, 2007, at the Fairmount Country Club, 400 Southern Blvd., Chatham, with Shot-Gun golf starting at noon. The proceeds from this event will help upgrade the hospital’s emergency room.

“We take great pride in making our annual event an experience to remember, there is something for everyone, whether you golf or play tennis or not,” said Meadowlands Hospital Administrator Martin Baicker. “We also want participants to know that without their support, we would not be able to provide the quality services and care our patients have come to expect and deserve.”

To participate in the golf outing will cost $550 per person, while the tennis competition is $250 per person. Full day registration includes a brunch buffet, greens/court fee, on-course beverage stations, cocktails, hot hors d’oeuvres and dinner buffet, and spectacular gifts for all participants.

There are a number of opportunities for sponsorship starting at the high-end with Presenting Sponsor ($50,000), Platinum Sponsor ($25,000) and Gold Sponsor ($15,000) to Closest to the Pin ($1,000), Tennis Awards ($500) and Tee Sign ($500).

New this year for non-golfers and non-tennis players, a spa package can be purchased for $450 per person. It includes brunch and dinner at the Fairmount Country Club, and a glorious spa afternoon at the nearby Hilton Short Hills and Spa - a one hour body massage and use of the spa’s indoor pool, sauna, whirlpool, fitness center and workout classes.

The proceeds of this event will go towards the upgrade of Meadowland Hospital’s Emergency Room, a project that is expected to cost approximately $5 million. The improvements will double the size of the current facility, modernizing the design to more efficiently expedite patient care. This state-of- the-art emergency room will include a “fast-track area” where less severely injured patients will be treated.

The emergency room currently serves approximately 20,000 patients per year, in a facility built in 1976 to serve 14,000 patients. The upgrade will double the size of the emergency room to better serve the steadily increasing population of the Meadowlands region.
