Docs at Jersey City Medical Center Named Among Best
by "New York Magazine"

Dr. Robert Lahita, a world-renown Lupus specialist, and Dr. Martin Levine, a leader in osteopathic and sports medicine, are tops in their respective fields, according to New York Magazine's annual list of the New York-area's best doctors.

The two LibertyHealth doctors were among 1,439 physicians, surgeons and specialists named to this prestigious list.

"We congratulate these doctors on being recognized as leaders in the healthcare field," said Stephen Kirby, president of LibertyHealth. "And we are proud to have them on staff at our hospitals."

Chairman of Medicine at the Jersey City Medical Center, Lahita is a professor of medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He joined the Jersey City Medical Center in 2003.

During his more than 30 years in medicine, Lahita has received every available award and honor including the Summa Award – the highest award of the Lupus Foundation of American. He has also served on numerous boards including the Lupus Foundation of America, the New York chapter of the Arthritis Foundation and the American College of Rheumatology. In addition, Lahita authored 111 peer reviewed publications and 12 books.

Levine, who has private family practices in Jersey City and Bayonne, is an attending physician at Greenville Hospital and an assistant professor of family medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

Over the years, he has served as a medical consultant and treating physician at high schools and colleges in Jersey City and Bayonne, and at a host of sporting events including, the New York City Marathon, the Boston Marathon and the U.S. Olympic trials.

Levine is on the American Osteopathic Association's board of trustees and is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.
