Former LiberyHealth Board Members
Honored At Awards Gala

Rev. James F. Reilly, former board chairman of LibertyHealth, the parent company of the Jersey City Medical Center, Meadowlands Hospital and Greenville Hospital, was honored alongside other retiring board members at a gala recently held at Casino in the Park.

For 26 years, Reilly has served as a member and chairman of the boards of trustees at the Jersey City Medical Center and LibertyHealth.

Reilly - who is pastor of St. Michael's Church in Palisades Park - joined the board of the Jersey City Medical Center in 1981, when it was still a city-owned hospital, and remained there for another 18 years even while also serving as a member and chairman of the LibertyHealth board of trustees.

Reilly - who was born at the Jersey City Medical Center's legendary Margaret Hague Maternity Hospital - graduated from Holy Family School in Union City, Seton Hall University and the Immaculate Conception Seminary.

During the opening of the new Jersey City Medical Center building in 2004, Reilly sent a note to hospital employees, offering his hopes for the new facility.

"May we never forget our roots or our mission: to give all we have in service to the sick and most in need among us," he wrote.

Other retiring board members honored during the event were: David Barry, Sandra Bolden Cunningham, Dr. Carlos Hernandez, Dr. Barry Maltzman, Juan Manuel Perez, Helena Ruman and Charles Trefurt.
